विडङ्गं कटु तीक्ष्णोष्ण रूक्षं वह्निकरं लघु ।
शूलाध्मानोदरश्लेमकृमिवात विबन्धनुत् ।। ११२

Indian Materia Medica of SRI BHAVAMISRA (C. 1500-1600A.D.)
🌳The above shloka explains the property and actions of the herb Vidanga. It is pungent in taste and have penetrating as well as dry nature.
🌳It can act as an antimicrobial agent and can alleviate various digestive system related discomforts. It alleviates Kapha and Vata dosha along with the action of relieving constipation. 🌳Vidanga has a quality of improving digestive fire.
Ayurvedic properties of Vidanga – Embelia ribes
Guna (qualities)
– Laghu (light to digest), Ruksha (dry)
Rasa (Taste) – Kashaya (astringent )
Vipaka (taste conversion after digestion) – Katu (Pungent)
Veerya (potency) - Ushna - hot
🌳Effect on Tridosha – Kapha Vata hara - It alleviate Kapha and Vata Doshas.
Karma (actions) – Anthelmintic ,Antimicrobial, Antifungal , Antioxidant, Rejuvenative , Anti-inflammatory
🌳🙏My Note: Manibhadra leham which I prescribe contains the above herb named Vidanga as well as I am directly giving Vidanga churna in certain cases.
